Facilities & Maintenance Manager – Quadralene, Derby

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Facilities & Maintenance Manager at our new, purpose built UK Head Office, Centre of Excellence for Chemistry and manufacturing site in Derby.

In this newly created position, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that operational equipment and all facilities are well-maintained and supported. You will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels to ensure that production, warehousing and office facilities and processes are maintained and refined in conjunction with local and global Quality, Health and Safety and Sustainability policies.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive maintenance programme for all facilities, covering areas such as Building Security, Fire & Intruder Alarms, Building Management Systems, and Contract Cleaning
  • Managing a maintenance programme for operational equipment and machinery, including Filling Machinery, Forklift trucks, and Mixing Vessels
  • Collaborating with Department Managers to create and manage an internal inspection and maintenance plan
  • Ensuring that maintenance plans comply with building codes, safety regulations (in collaboration with the H&S Manager), Quality and Sustainability requirements
  • Managing external contractors to ensure timely completion of preventative and reactive maintenance plans
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing improvements
  • Handling requests for immediate fixes and reactive maintenance to minimise disruptions to operations
  • Directly managing the Maintenance Engineer
  • Developing and communicating internal processes to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming work space for all

Your skills and experience include:   

 

  • Significant previous Facilities Management experience, preferably in a manufacturing / chemical / engineering environment
  • Excellent understanding of facilities management requirements
  • Proficiency in maintenance management systems for both facilities and operational environments
  • Ability to manage contracts and collaborate with the Production Manager on reactive maintenance requests.
  • Strong motivation to develop and maintain management systems
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and take a leadership role
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Facilities Management/Engineering
  • Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of production plant equipment
  • Familiarity with building management systems and regulations
  • Good organisational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent written and verbal communication
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for working collaboratively with teams, senior management and external vendors
