Getinge Infection Control is a leader in developing advanced sterilizers and washer disinfectors, committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation, quality, and safety. Our systems are integral to healthcare environments worldwide, and we’re working to elevate our technology with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity and reliable system performance.

The Project:

In the quest for new technologies, we are investigating a Linux-based environment for our future control systems, we seek a talented student to explore and document software segregation strategies in a container-based Linux system. The aim is to develop a strategy for securely isolating the machine control application from the software component that communicates with external systems and the cloud. This segregation is vital to ensure that the medical device functions safely and reliably, protected from external threats and unauthorized access.

Key Objectives:

  • Research and evaluate various segregation strategies, particularly in a container-based environment.
  • Design and propose a solution that effectively isolates the medical software component from external network interfaces, mitigating risks from external traffic, hacker attacks, and other cybersecurity threats.
  • Produce a comprehensive report documenting the best practices and recommended approach to secure the Linux-based system architecture.

Skills We’re Looking For:

  • Knowledge in Linux operating systems and containerization technologies.
  • Interest in cybersecurity principles and secure software design.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a drive for developing high-quality, impactful solutions.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Hands-on experience with a real-world application that has direct implications for patient safety and healthcare quality.
