Job Overview

 

Specify, develop, document and support machine and process control systems for all product lines, maintaining or enhancing production safety, quality and consistency.

 

 

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Create and maintain equipment design documentation, including equipment requirements, hardware specifications, software specifications, equipment configuration documents and test plans.
  • Design machine electrical and pneumatic systems, including selecting components, creating Bills of Materials and drawing schematics.
  • Configure and program PLCs, HMIs, servo systems and all other software driven controls components to operate production and test equipment in accordance with equipment requirements documents.
  • Perform control systems review activities including risk assessments, code reviews and design/drawing reviews.
  • Integrate and test control systems hardware and participate in equipment builds.
  • Test and debug PLC, HMI and instrumentation software.
  • Configure and test machine instruments, components and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical expertise during maintenance of production equipment in a controlled environment.
  • Support validation of new equipment and controls.
  • Interface with other departments such as Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing and R&D.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related duties as requested.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Minimum two years related experience.
  • Design knowledge and experience in use of CAD, PLC and HMI software.

  • Effective organizational skills that include the ability to plan, prioritize, organize, gather facts, and exercise sound judgment in problem solving and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical writing, with the ability to abstract and organize information for manufacturing equipment documentation. Must have good spelling, grammar, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word and Excel.

Internal and External Contacts/Relationships

  • Internal: Team members (including contractors), all Getinge colleagues including R&D, Operations, Quality and Validation functions.
  • External: Contractors, vendors and consultants.

 

Environmental/Safety/Physical Work Conditions

  • Ensures environmental consciousness and safe practices are exhibited in decisions
  • Use of computer and telephone equipment and other related office accessories/devices to complete assignments.
  • Requires use of safety equipment and gowning as directed by work area (controlled environment, workshop).
  • May work extended hours during peak business cycles
  • Physical requirements such as lifting specific weights
  • Travel: Less than 10%

 

Salary Range:  $80K - $100K Annually DOE
