Job Overview

The Transportation Manager APAC will oversee all aspects of transportation in the Asia-Pacific region. The role will lead and focus on Operations, Supplier management, Strategy & Optimization projects, Solutions & transformation and Data Analytics.  This role also needs to ensure managing Opex, sustainability, compliance and meeting financial objectives. The Transportation Manager will work closely with local and regional teams to ensure that transportation processes align with organizational objectives and customer expectations.

 

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Member of APAC Logistics team
  • Member of internal Transport council
  • Responsible for all transportation related activities in APAC region.

Operations Management:

  • Overall responsible for transport operations in APAC region and ADC.  This includes Air freight, ocean freight, land transport for both International and domestic.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and vendors.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to meet expectations and resolve transportation-related issues.
  • Address any transportation delays or service issues, offering solutions as needed.
  • Key point of contact for escalation and resolving transportation issues supporting ADC, SSU and Suzhou factory
  • Oversee DG and Special transport handling and validate requirements.
  • Support and co-ordinate damage and discrepancy claims.
  • Optimize transport routes and freight costs to achieve cost savings without compromising on service quality.

Supplier Management:

  • Set-up KPI’s, score cards, standardize measurements and reporting. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance against service-level agreements (SLAs)
  • Negotiating contracts/rates, service agreement with transportation vendors and service providers as required
  • Manage transport suppliers effectively through performance evaluation like MBR and QBR

Strategy and Projects:

  • Develop and implement transportation strategies that align with business goals for the APAC region
  • Lead and implement optimization opportunities and initiatives to deliver the savings as planned.
  • Reduce airfreight and express modes for local transportation by working with countries and identify consolidation opportunities

Data Analytics:

  • Monitor, track and analyse key metrics and data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze, review and report freight analysis – performance, spend, savings.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management to make data driven decisions. Create monthly dashboard for management review.
  • Utilize data to forecast transportation needs, plan for seasonal or demand fluctuation
  • Leverage technology to optimize and ensure the best possible delivery performance

 

Solution and Transformation:

  • Identify and implement new transports solutions to meet the dynamic business needs.
  • Support to evaluate and create transport solutions and cost/price for new business opportunities.
  • Work with Global freight team in implementation of transport/freight services as required.  Align with other regional transport manager on joint initiatives and improvement opportunities.

Financial Management:

  • Managing the transportation spend in the region.
  • Responsible for freight related savings in APAC region and ADC. 
  • Freight invoice audit - ensure freight invoices for both international and domestic are checked and verified either through 3rd party or Getinge resources appropriately.

Sustainability

  • Ensure reporting of CO2 emission as required by company, work with transporters on sustainability. 
  • Work on freight consolidation and transport mode optimization to achieve both cost savings and reduced carbon emissions.

Compliance

  • Managing Transporters compliance and performance in APAC
  • Support Trade compliance activities including HS code validations and documentatons.
  • Lead and support in sourcing, selection and implementation of domestic transport/freight services as required in APAC region in compliance with group policy
  • Tracking freight and transport performance and compliance with Group strategy
  • Implementation and ensure adherence to QMS related to transportation.

Minimum Requirements 

Experience: 8-10 years of experience in transport management, with at least 3-5 years in a regional role covering APAC.

  • Strong knowledge of regional transportation regulations and customs requirements across APAC countries.
  • Proven ability to manage a multi-country transport network and handle large-scale operations
  • Strong track record of implementing operational efficiencies, cost-saving initiatives, and performance improvement strategies.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

 Logistics & Supply Chain Management

  • Deep understanding of transportation logistics, including road, rail, sea, and air freight.

 

Vendor & Supplier Management

  • Expertise in managing relationships with 3PL, 4PL providers, carriers, and freight forwarders.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms in service agreements and contracts.
  • Experience with multi-modal transport and optimizing transport routes across regions.

Problem-Solving & Decision-Making

  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address operational issues such as delivery delays, route disruptions, and compliance challenges

 

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders across diverse cultures and geographies.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with senior management, supply chain partners, and external vendors.

Supervision/Management of Others

  • No Direct reports in this role, however close collaboration with stakeholders and extended team is required.

  • Main contacts, internal: APAC Logistics team, Transport members in other regions, SSU
  • Main contacts, external:  Nominated forwarders, transporters and other related suppliers

  • May work extended hours during peak business cycles
