Lead Field Service Technician, SWIC

The Lead Field Service Technician for the Surgical Workflow and Infection Control (SWIC) business unit is responsible for performing field repairs and responding to emergency calls related to medical devices, including sterilizers, washers, surgical tables, lights, and other equipment. Additionally, they will oversee the scheduling of preventive maintenance visits with minimal supervision, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. They will assist colleagues during installations or service call escalations and lead all installation projects when they occur.

 

The Position

This role is responsible for:

  • Provide technical assistance to Sales, Management and Teammates when expertise is required.
  • Collaborate with Field Service Technicians to facilitate knowledge sharing and streamline onboarding of new technicians.
  • Support with inventory counts.
  • Lead all installation projects and provide support to teammates during installation projects in their territories.
  • Coordinate with Order Management/Logistics Specialist and Project Managers for warehousing and/or 3rd party contractors.
  • Assist colleagues with service escalation calls and customer service issues.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Project Managers and Service Managers by attending conference calls and performing site visits.
  • Contact manufacturers and colleagues in other regions when external support is necessary.
  • Provide backup for territory coverage when needed.
  • Preventative Maintenance (PM) Compliance – collaborate with the Regional Team to plan monthly PM visits, ensuring coverage to meet Global Service Metrics.
  • Work across functions (Service, Sales, Factory and Marketing) to ensure effective deployment of new equipment and systems. This will include technical support to Service Technicians and Managers in the escalation process.
  • Travel to support equipment escalations and/or provide consultative support to field service technicians to expedite the resolution of equipment or user issues in all Regions.
  • Provide services to customers in accordance with the terms, conditions and responsibilities stated in Getinge’s published warranty and maintenance contract policies.
  • Comply with all health and safety codes and procedures mandated by Getinge policies, customer requirements and regulatory agencies.
  • Satisfactorily complete all training required by Getinge training and certification processes, regulatory bodies, and quality systems.
  • Document all activities in accordance with Service policies and procedures.
  • Maintain expenses and required inventory within guidelines and limits established by Getinge.
  • Protect company assets. 
  • Maintain test equipment and all other equipment provided by the company in good working conditions.
  • Maintain positive, professional communication with customers, regional team members and the Technical Support group.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 

This role will be located in Greater Toronto Area.

 

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for the following experience, knowledge, and abilities:

 

  • 5+ years of relevant business experience, including decision-making, and a minimum of 3 years working in a high-volume field service environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally (Passport required).
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle (valid driver’s license required).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid technical proficiency in using schematics, system diagrams, and repair procedures to troubleshoot, install, repair, and calibrate all products assigned.
  • Capable of managing time and resources within the assigned territory in conjunction with near-term plans to achieve the territory’s objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental regulations and maintain honesty, integrity and excellent work ethics.
  • Able to enhance teamwork within the region and maintain a collaborative relationship with all levels of the organization.
  • Able to influence others and function effectively in a team approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and listening skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve service quota.
  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
