Job Overview

The Senior Analyst, Sales Compensation plays a key role in the administration, analysis, and continuous improvement of sales compensation programs. As a subject matter expert, this position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of commission processes, system administration, and reporting. The analyst will partner cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Legal, and HR teams to support business objectives, provide performance insights, and uphold compensation integrity.

 

This role requires a strong analytical background, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and troubleshoot complex data and system workflows. The Senior Analyst will contribute to plan design, maintain sales compensation tools, and serve as a trusted resource for sales teams and leadership.

 

This is a high-impact position that contributes directly to the performance and motivation of the sales organization. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong business acumen to ensure sales compensation programs are effectively executed, compliant, and aligned with corporate objectives. This position is remote, but will be working EST hours. 

 

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Administer and maintain the sales compensation system, including configuration, data integration, payroll reconciliation, and statement generation.
  • Perform in-depth analysis on sales performance data to calculate and validate incentive payments and support compensation reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align compensation processes with business needs, ensure data accuracy, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support the design, modeling, and implementation of commission and incentive plans; assist in documenting plan rules and legal compliance.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly compensation statements; identify and investigate anomalies, variances, and exceptions.
  • Manage pro-rations and payment calculations for new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, and role changes.
  • Develop dashboards and tools to communicate compensation results and trends to stakeholders.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for sales inquiries related to commission calculations, plan interpretation, and statement clarification. Provide prompt, accurate and thorough feedback to field sales to be a true business partner.
  • Maintain the sales compensation database and assist in annual planning, budgeting, and process improvement efforts.
  • Ensure audit readiness through diligent documentation, testing, and validation of compensation-related data and reports.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support senior management and sales leadership decision-making.
  • Must have the ability to work efficiently in a remote team environment.
  • Reviews proposed compensation modifications by gathering, assessing and analyzing data and understands/conforms to established guidelines, policies and practices.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in sales compensation, financial analysis, financial systems, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in sales compensation platforms and strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access; experience with data visualization tools is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CaptivateIQ preferred or knowledge of other compensation software tools such as Xactly, Varicent, SAP, or Oracle is highly valued.

The salary range for this position is between $100,000-115,000 per year with a 10% bonus, depending on experience and location
