Job Overview
The Technical Design Manager is the subject matter expert for all aspects of the SWIC drawing and design process for both Infection Control and Surgical Workplaces. The position will be responsible for developing and maintaining drawing templates and equipment blocks for both AutoCAD and Revit. This will include communication with both manufacturing factories and field employees to ensure that information is correct and maintained as products are updated and improved. The Technical Design Manager will also work to create and maintain cut sheets for product lines based off factory technical drawings. This position is responsible for continuous improvement to the drawings. Additionally, the position will lead continuous improvements to processes and execute the roll out of new processes, including training plans, to the facility design and engineering support teams.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Own the development and maintenance of drawing templates and equipment blocks, ensuring that drawings meet industry standards.
- Develop materials and train team to standards to ensure consistent deliverable drawing packages.
- Act as the subject matter expert for the drawing process and lead continuous improvements to the drawing process and developed materials.
- Communicate and drive compliance to established team performance metrics as required and hold staff accountable for compliance.
- Work independently by prioritizing, planning, and executing projects efficiently.
- Stay current with latest developments in design technologies and techniques and educate team on changes, especially in the area of BIM industry standards.
- Review and recommend improvements to existing designs.
- Become a subject matter expert on all products in current corporate portfolio.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Design, Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum of 7 years relevant design experience, preferably in healthcare facility design industry.
- A minimum of 7 years of CAD/Revit drafting experience (Revit preferred).
- Advanced mechanical and electrical engineering aptitude including knowledge of schematic and other technical drawings.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision and assist with training and coaching of others.
- Ability to create and execute training plans.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and proficient in using AutoCAD or Revit.
- Positive, proactive outlook and demeanor, with ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Project and time management skills.
- Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
Salary range: $115k - $125k
