We currently have an opening for a Transportation Specialist. This position is responsible for working directly with Getinge factories, carriers, Getinge warehouses and Sales Support to manage, coordinate and execute the daily movement of Import / Export freight & parcel shipments to our customers and internal network. Our Logistics team thrives in a fast paced environment and works closely with our Getinge supply chain team.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities

Responsible for day to day coordination, execution, and tracking of sea import shipments shipped from our distribution centers and manufacturing plants.

  • Manage all import shipments coming from overseas suppliers and maintain daily status reports
  • Run, update and upload weekly reports for air and ocean import shipments
  • Liaison between Getinge factories / Sales Support / Project Managers / Logistics Services / Planners and Import / Export Carriers
  • Address, escalate and resolve problems in a prompt manner.
  • Approve import shipments with carriers as requested and appropriate
  • Manage storage / last mile delivery for direct and indirect customer shipments
  • Manage container delivery appts / slotting
  • Update SAP PO dates
  • Distribute PODs to Sales Support upon receipt
  • Maintain Carriers Holding log
  • Shipment re-consignment as necessary
  • Report KPI, efficiencies, inefficiencies and cost savings opportunities

Daily Operations  -

  • Approve import shipments with carriers as requested and appropriate
  • Manage storage / last mile delivery for customer direct shipments
  • Manage container delivery appts / slotting
  • Update SAP PO dates
  • Distribute PODs to Sales Support upon receipt
  • Maintain Carriers Holding log
  • Shipment reconsignment and last mile coordination as necessary

 

Minimum Job Requirements, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field is required
  • 3-5 years of experience and knowledge in the freight forwarding industry
  • Experience in FCL / LCL Ocean Cargo logistics and documentation
  • Knowledge of general freight forwarding terms and standards; working knowledge of import and export transportation
  • Proficient knowledge of world geography, import documentation, and Incoterms.
  • Experience with DG & Hazmat shipment requirements
  • SAP and GTS system experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Free Trade Zone preferred but not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs; specifically MS Word, Power Point, Excel & Teams
