Paragonix Technologies markets organ transportation devices that safeguard organs during the journey between donor and recipient patients. Our devices incorporate clinically proven and medically trusted hypothermic preservation techniques in a novel suspension system to provide unprecedented physical and thermal protection. Our product portfolio spans cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal preservation devices to improve donor organ quality and extend donor organ transport time.  Paragonix also markets transplant services and organ screening to the transplant community. 

The company offers a leading commercial system for heart preservation and transportation, while actively broadening its solutions for preserving all solid organs. As a Sr. Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions for next-generation organ preservation systems. In this role, you will collaborate with specialized teams, applying technical expertise to enhance the existing product portfolio and drive pipeline advancement through innovation, design, development, verification, validation, and successful launch of electro-mechanical systems.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Candidates should have strong abilities in concept development, design, prototyping, testing, and intellectual property creation.
  • Collaborate with teams to design, build, and test next-generation medical devices or improve existing products for clinical use.
  • Develop and conceptualize mechanical designs for new products.
  • Use experimental and analytical methods to evaluate design solutions.
  • Create and update design specifications, 3D CAD models, and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and key opinion leaders.
  • Partner with external industrial designers and OEMs on electromechanical systems development.
  • Maintain thorough records of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes.
  • Prepare engineering documentation and communicate results to technical teams, manufacturing partners, and Paragonix leadership.
  • Ensure all work follows the company's QMS and complies with medical device standards.

Qualifications:

  • Seasoned engineer skilled in problem-solving and creating simple, manufacturable solutions proven through prototyping and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience working within regulated FDA/GMP environments, with a comprehensive understanding of quality systems (ISO 13485) and risk management frameworks (ISO 14971).
  • Proven capability to deliver robust, manufacturable, and pragmatic design solutions addressing complex engineering challenges.
  • Established track record in advancing products from concept development through to manufacturing transfer.
  • Superior communication, collaboration, analytical problem-solving, root cause analysis, and critical thinking abilities.
  • 10+ years’ experience in medical device design and development.
  • Highly self-driven, exhibiting strong motivation and a passion for solving complex technical problems.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential.
  • Expertise in designing for injection molding and other plastic manufacturing methods.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or relevant discipline required.
