Getinge Digital Health Solutions is expanding its R&D leadership team. We are looking for a Software Development Director to take full accountability for one of two strategic engineering areas within DHS — and to help shape the overall R&D agenda as a member of the management team. 

This is a role for a leader who understands that sustainable delivery requires both the right priorities and the right people. You will be accountable for translating business strategy into engineering outcomes, developing a team of leaders, and driving product value in close partnership with Product Line Management. 

The domain carries real weight. DHS software is embedded in surgical and critical care workflows across leading hospitals worldwide. The decisions made in this role have direct implications for clinical outcomes and commercial performance. 

THE OPPORTUNITY 

• Strategic accountability  Full ownership of an engineering area — delivery, quality, talent, and roadmap — with a direct line to business value. 

• Management team membership  A genuine seat alongside the Senior Director R&D and peer Director, co-shaping R&D standards, investment priorities, and organisational direction. 

• Product co-ownership  Joint accountability for scope, roadmap, and outcomes with Product Line Management peers — not a service relationship. 

• Meaningful domain  Software that operates in regulated clinical environments, where engineering rigour and customer understanding directly impact patient care. 

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU 

• Strategy-to-execution translation  You convert business objectives into clear engineering priorities, with measurable outcomes and a coherent rationale the organisation can act on. 

• Leadership at scale  You develop and coach chapter leads and senior engineers — building capability and bench strength rather than managing individuals directly. 

• Customer and market orientation  You bring an informed perspective on customer needs and competitive dynamics into prioritisation and roadmap decisions. 

• Cross-functional influence  You build credibility with commercial, product, and executive stakeholders, and shape strategy upstream rather than receiving it downstream. 

• Organisational effectiveness  You create conditions for high performance — clarity of direction, appropriate autonomy, and accountability for outcomes over activity. 

YOUR BACKGROUND 

• Senior leadership experience  Director-level track record in a software product organisation, with both area P&L-style accountability and participation in a senior management forum. 

• Regulated industry exposure  Experience operating within MedTech, pharma, or an equivalent regulated environment is strongly preferred. 

• Demonstrated results on both dimensions  Improved delivery predictability and engineering effectiveness — not one at the cost of the other. 

• Matrix leadership capability  Proven ability to drive alignment and results across organisational boundaries, without dependence on direct authority.
