Paragonix Technologies markets organ transportation devices that safeguard organs during the journey between donor and recipient patients. Our devices incorporate clinically proven and medically trusted hypothermic preservation techniques in a novel suspension system to provide unprecedented physical and thermal protection. Our product portfolio spans cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal preservation devices to improve donor organ quality and extend donor organ transport time. Paragonix also markets transplant services and organ screening to the transplant community.
Position Overview: Position Overview: Leadership role to develop the clinical data, understanding and relationships within the clinical community to expand understanding throughout the community on the impacts of Paragonix systems on transplantation. A successful Medical Director will ensure consistent delivery of clinical data to the clinical community and drive the transformation of the clinical approach to preservation in transplantation. The Medical Director will also collaborate cross functional and directly with the Paragonix executive team to drive critical initiatives.
Primary responsibilities/authority will include:
- Lead the clinical strategy to establish convincing clinical evidence for the liver, kidney and pancreas and kidney product lines and to create awareness of these devices in the academic community
- Develop relationships with key opinion leaders to collaborate on new research and provide clinical feedback
- Lead external conversations as a representative of Paragonix to investigate new areas of research with our clinical partners
- Management and oversight of the GUARDIAN family of registries for abdominal transplantation including strategic planning, site onboarding, data management and analysis
- Develop impactful clinical research papers based on data from the GUARDIAN set of registries and independent research endeavors
- Manage publication projects from inception, review, and acceptance with leading clinical journals
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of clinical presentations and publications through new initiatives and collaborations with external investigators
- Develop expertise in the supporting background literature in the area of solid organ transplantation as well as monitor current clinical developments and keeping abreast of current literature
- Communicate professionally and clearly with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success
- Serve as primary subject matter expert for other functional groups.internal functional groups including formal education, training, case reviews and field support
- Direct line management of the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team including hiring, training, mentorship and ongoing professional development
- Strategic planning, development and execution of symposium content for major transplant academic conferences
- Develop and execute external field education on the clinical impact of the Paragonix portfolio of products
- Provide clinical insight to product management, marketing and commercial teams regarding customer needs and use-case scenarios
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Medical Doctorate Degree
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in solid organ transplant clinical research
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience working in the medical device industry
- Experience running large scale multi-center registry clinical research studies
- Minimum 2 years’ direct managerial experience
Other Requirements:
- This role is a hybrid position, remote and in the Greater Boston area (currently Cambridge, MA and Natick, MA)Waltham, MA)
- Must be willing to travel domestic and/or internationally approximately 21%-50% of the time
- Strong oral communication, presentation, project management and prioritization skills
- Experience authoring and publishing content in medical journals and for medical conference presentations
- Ability to quickly learn the clinical literature and content regarding solid organ transplantation and the ability to hold sophisticated research conversations with transplant specialists, including physicians and surgeons
- Comfort interpreting statistical data and directing statistical research teams on appropriate analytical approaches to support publications
- High level of comfort with developing, interpreting, and communicating complex clinical information with impactful visualizations and supporting data
- Demonstrated ability of working in a fast-paced, matrixed organization that requires quick response to changing needs
- Excellent interpersonal relationships
Director, Paragonix Transplant Research Institute (PTRI):
- Lead the design, facilitation, and execution of advisory board meetings, fostering meaningful collaboration with key opinion leaders and global stakeholders
- Provide strategic oversight of pan-organ clinical research initiatives, guiding both independent studies and integrated efforts within the GUARDIAN family of registries
- Establish and oversee Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Investigator Initiated Trial (IIT) program to ensure scientific rigor, compliance, and scalability. Additionally, manage the pipeline, submission process, review and awards of the IIT program facilitated through PTRI
- Direct the publication strategy for manuscript development and submissions to leading peer-reviewed journals, ensuring visibility and impact of PTRI initiatives
- Build and sustain high-impact collaborations with external investigators, academic partners, and multidisciplinary stakeholders through project-specific working groups
- Develop and champion research efforts in organ procurement and surgical services, advancing best practices and new clinical paradigms.
- Provide oversight for the integration of artificial intelligence and advanced data science, accelerating GUARDIAN registry data collection, insights, and research analyses
Salary based on location and experience $246,422-266,000
