Product Area Critical Care at Getinge is a key business area with annual revenues of approximately SEK 5.0 billion (2025). The product area includes the segments Advanced Patient Monitoring, Ventilation and Anesthesia, with development and production sites in Solna, Sweden, and Munich, Germany, and sales and service organizations as part of Getinge’s global sales structure.

We are now looking for a Director, Strategic Purchasing to further strengthen our strategic purchasing capability within Critical Care. You will be part of the Sourcing Management Team and play a central role in shaping the long‑term competitiveness, productivity, and resilience of our supply chain.

In this role, your primary responsibility will be to lead strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier development activities for selected direct material categories, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals.

 

What you will do

 

As Director, Strategic Purchasing, you will work in close collaboration with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Regulatory, Operations, our global purchasing network and suppliers. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and develop the sourcing team for selected categories, supplier projects, and lead buyers
  • Define and drive strategic category directions based on market conditions, supply risk, and business needs
  • Develop and optimize the supplier base to improve cost, quality, delivery, and performance
  • Build and sustain a productivity pipeline using best‑practice sourcing methods and lean initiatives in collaboration with suppliers
  • Drive early supplier involvement and innovation in product development phases

This position is based in Solna, Sweden. Due to the nature of the role, it is mainly site‑based, with occasional international travel. You will report to Senior Director Purchasing at Critical Care.

 

You will bring

 

To be successful in this position, we believe that you have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Business Administration
  • 10–15 years of experience in strategic sourcing within manufacturing, preferably Medtech
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and engage teams
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in cost analysis and value engineering
  • Solid understanding of end‑to‑end supply chains, lean principles, and KPI‑driven sourcing
  • Experience conducting supply risk assessments and managing complex sourcing structures
  • Knowledge of SAP and MS Office
  • Experience with ESG and sustainability topics within sourcing is a strong advantage
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken (Swedish is beneficial)
