Our Solna site is in an exciting and intensive phase of change, and we are now looking for you who would like to execute your thesis project in our Value Creation Team Sense & Control. The group consists of 10 employees in the R&D organization.

 

The assignment

A ventilator is a medical device that assists patients in breathing by delivering oxygen and removing carbon dioxide, especially when they cannot breathe adequately on their own. Inside and attached to the ventilator there are several gas-filters for various purposes, such as gas-flow sensing and gas quality control. The quality of these filters is of vital importance for the ventilation functions and patient safety. The assignment requires hands-on work and provide good chance to learn instrumentation, measurement precision, error analysis and laboratory set ups. Our team has close cooperation with assembly lines and suppliers, there will be good chance to learn the connection between R&D and industry process.

 

In this project there are several aspects to be studied and explored:

 

  • Understand the gas-flow dynamics through a filter.
  • Establish a quality parameter for the filters.
  • Set up laboratory test to evaluate the quality of several types of filters.
  • Set up laboratory test to evaluate the reliability of filters.
  • Understand the practical aspects of industry testing tool and propose solutions, possibly automatic test.
  • Documentation for bachelor thesis.

 

Your qualifications:

 

  • Current enrollment in a bachelor’s program going for a degree in Physics or Engineering fields such electronics, mechanics, medical technology, or any similar field.
  • Interest in hands-on work in a lab.
  • Interest in instrumentation, automation and practical set-ups.
  • Interest in medical technology and sensors.
  • Social and willing in corporations with colleagues.
  • Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in English.

 

Number of students: 2

Preferred start date: in beginning of 2026 upon agreement.

Number of credits: 2x15 hp:

Result of the thesis work should be documented in a report in English. A presentation should be given both in school and at Getinge.
