About this opportunity  

Getinge Critical care in Solna is an inspiring workplace where we develop and produce advanced medical devices such as ventilators, anesthesia machines, intracortical balloon pumps, ECMO machines and advanced hemodynamic monitors.  We are proud of our products and our skilled colleagues that contributes to bring lifesaving solutions to the market every day.

We are now looking for a talented designer to lead the vision, development and maintenance of our Figma-based design system for medical devices. This role includes both hands-on design in Figma and strategic work to ensure consistency, usability, and efficiency. As a Systems Lead, you should have experience contributing to lower-level decision making, direct broader strategy, and observe when narrower efforts conflict with or distract from broader goals.

Our GUIDE design system is used by 12 designers across four sites in Europe and India, supporting the development of world-leading med-tech devices in intensive care and surgery. The system includes coded UI components, icons, typography, colors, and physical touchscreen specifications—recognized with an iF Design Award (GUIDE Design System).

 

What you will do

  • Own and evolve the design system – continuously improving its structure, guidelines, components, and documentation while acting as the primary point of contact for design system-related queries and requests.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product managers, and developers to ensure the design system meets the needs of the product while maintaining consistency across the application.
  • Ensure adoption and consistency – Establish and enforce design system guidelines, principles, and best practices across the organization to ensure consistent application across different products.
  • Lead a community of design system users from around the organization to gather feedback share learnings and co-create improvements.
  • Provide design leadership and guidance to teams around using shared patterns and identify opportunities to create new patterns and components.
  • Present the system’s mission, library, and process to other groups, including product managers, content specialists, QA, and other design and development teams throughout the enterprise. 
  • Stay updated on Figma features, design system trends, and industry best practices to continuously enhance the design system.

 

This position is based in Solna and is eligible for a hybrid setup in decision with your manager.

 

You will bring

To be successful in this position, we believe that you have the following qualifications.

 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interaction design, Human Factors Engineering or a related field.
  • A strong portfolio that highlights design systems you have created or largely contributed to
  • Experience in design systems and principles, UX/UI design, and Figma
  • Comfortable leading cross-functional collaboration with designers, developers, and product teams.
  • Skilled in community-building and facilitation, bringing designers together to share knowledge and improve the system.
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong sense of consistency and usability.
  • Experienced with physical interface design or interested in expanding your expertise into that area.
  • Strong communication skills
