Job Overview
Responsible for translating information into a weekly production schedule. Develops planning techniques and helps to lead the plant manufacturing are toward plant and corporate goals. Utilizes information on inventory targets, service level, capacity, and other planning tools to drive toward improved plant performance metrics and the achievement of plant goals.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Prepare and monitor weekly production plans by translating customer demand from IBP into executable schedules in SAP; balance project management with core floor production while level-loading against installed and demonstrated capacity.
- Develop and maintain key operational metrics including service level, schedule adherence, backorders, inventory optimization, and compliance.
- Leverage SAP for production oversight: track launches, ramp-ups/downs, and run daily reports to identify and resolve discrepancies between planned schedules and actual production.
- Manage Kanban systems: reconcile SAP data with physical inventory, investigate variances, and ensure Kanban levels are accurately set and sustained.
- Prepare and process shop floor documentation for validation protocols; initiate ZRD1/ZRD2 orders and technically complete SAP orders to prevent premature product availability.
- Promote a safe and efficient work environment while representing the department in meetings and cross-functional initiatives.
- Ensure continuous material flow to prevent delays, machine underutilization, manpower inefficiencies, or shortages.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and achieve production targets, including regular presence on the shop floor in adherence to operational standards.
- Manage finished goods and WIP inventory in alignment with corporate guidelines; proactively communicate potential shortages or product issues to stakeholders.
- Partner with Marketing, OEMs, Supply Chain, and R&D to address customer service concerns and product-related challenges.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional projects to drive operational improvements and strategic initiatives.
- Develop and monitor reports and performance dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
- Expedite raw materials and finished devices through inspection and NCMR processes to maintain uninterrupted customer supply.
- Serve as back-up for the Planning Manager as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or other related field and/or combination of education and related experience is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Three or more years’ experience in production planning, purchasing, materials management or other related activities is required. Experience in a regulated industry (GMP’s and ISO 9000) is ideal.
- APICS Certification is preferred.
- Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication. The ability to make effective presentations is highly desirable.
- Must demonstrate sound judgment, be well organized, take initiative, and be flexible.
- Must demonstrate ability to work well under pressure, work effectively with both employees and management and be able to facilitate resolution of common business issues.
- Previous working knowledge of MRP or equivalent system is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and Power Point is required. Prior SAP experience is preferred.
The salary for this role is a minimum of $105k and a maximum of $115k annually, plus 10% incentive target.
